TikTok Reached My Target Audience!

I recently started Disney Look Book, an online community for everything Disney style! From Parks fashion to everyday wear — members can share their outfit pictures and inspiration, share and ask for style advice, and highlight small Disney-themed businesses! While there are a lot of Disney style social media influencers and accounts that repost others’ outfits, I noticed the lack of conversation that was happening and saw an opportunity for a really strong community. Hence why I created this Facebook group to start a community and conversation about a topic many seem to love and enjoy.

I started this group a couple of weeks ago—I posted about it on my Facebook and my Close Friends Instagram Story. From those two posts, the Facebook group grew to about 48 members. I was pleasantly surprised by this, but still did not see any participation from any of the members. This is expected since most of these members are family and friends and most likely joined out of support. I receive likes on the content I post myself in there, but I am hoping to see other members actually initiate the conversation themselves as well.

So I went to TikTok to try to reach my target audience and, hopefully, people who would want to participate in the conversation on my Facebook group. I thought TikTok would be the best platform for a couple of reasons:

  1. I had already posted an Instagram Reel about the group which had good reach and engagement, but it did not result in any conversions.
  2. TikTok’s reach is amazing—you can count on the platform to get your content to the right people because of its strong algorithm.
  3. My TikTok videos that feature Disney style have been doing really well! One of my “Get Ready With Me for a Day at Disneyland” videos has 10.4k views! If my other Disney style content has been doing well on my TikTok, hopefully, TikTok will show the target audience my video about my Facebook group.

So I created and posted the above video! I felt that talking directly to the camera would be best so the content, Facebook group, and call-to-action would feel more genuine. As you can see in the video, I shared some content examples to help people understand that this group can really be anything Disney style! I was unable to include a clickable link on the video or my TikTok profile, but I did type out the link in the video for people to re-type into their browser.

After posting this TikTok, the group received 8 more members! I do not have any mutual friends with these people on Facebook, and their locations seem to be scattered throughout the United States. While I cannot be 100% certain that these members were conversions from the TikTok video, I strongly believe that the video is what caused people to join. As I write this, the group got its first post initiated by another member! This person shared their recent Disneyland outfit and how they thought the group was a great idea.

I am very pleased with the results TikTok gave me in just a couple of days. Other videos I posted almost a month ago are still gaining likes and views, so I am hopeful this specific video will continue to grow as well!
